The Mogadishu Book Fair

September 13th – 15th, Fartumo had the pleasure of travelling to Somalia for The Mogadishu Book Fair, where she was a Guest alongside many other internationally acclaimed and homegrown Somali artists, writers, and performers.

The Mogadishu Book Fair promotes books, reading, culture and heritage by bringing together – from around the world – authors, scholars, poets, booksellers and exposing the public to a great mix of both Somali and international literature. The Fair also serves as an important marketplace for young up-and-coming authors to meet and liaise with leading and legendary authors.

In anticipation for the upcoming launch of Tale of a Boon’s Wife, The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) held a reception following The Mogadishu Book Fair, which Fartumo had read excerpts from her book which was officially launched, followed by signing and beverages.

The event was a success honouring Somali culture and literature.
